"It must be a lonely life being an archaeologist"... LOL, good one! One of those things where you do a lot more searching than finding!

That was really interesting -thank you! Your free hand painting skills amaze me...and as far as clever, and it did catch me off guard for a second,: "using my Hohokam scissors"

I can understand why flattened canteens became popular - you're less apt to accidentally knock one against a rock or whatever and lose your water supply (and your means of carrying more when you finally find some). Regarding patience, I decided early on that haste is a potter's worst enemy. One of my mentors in my working career told me, "Most mistakes get made because somebody got in a hurry." They all point that same way. Retting flax to make linen used to be done by letting the harvested canes rot in water - smelly work. I don't suppose desert dwellers would want to spend the water to soak yucca leaves.

I recognize the effort of that short hiking sequence with the canteen when the temperatures are over 100 degrees! So many cuts.

If you make a long cord , you cab pass it underneath the pot , into each handle , to take the weight off the handle .

I wonder if at some point there was made a cantine that was entirely wrapped with cordage to help prevent breakage. It wouldn't make sense to decorate those with beautiful patterns so I don't know if there has been found any non-decorated cantine that could have led to that conclussion.<br>Amazing video like always!! Thanks for putting your talent towards nurishing others' knowledge!

Just another example of how brutal it was to exist back then.
