The original ending had them getting back together. <br><br>Robin Williams, Sally Field, and Chris Columbus, all of whom had been through divorces, asked to change it, because they didn't want to give kids with divorce parents false hope.

FUN FACT: When Pierce Brosnan first met Robin Williams on set, he was in his trailer wearing cargo shorts, a Hawaiian shirt and the head of Mrs. Doubtfire. Also, Williams constantly tried to make Brosnan laugh with his improvised lines on camera and he never cracked.

Pretty sure everyone who saw this movie growing up has at least one time tried to make that "HELLOOOO!!" noise that Robin Williams does when his face is covered in cream.
