One thing you realize about the movie is although the Grinch is made to be portrayed as the villain, he’s really not. He’s more relatable than ever. The Who’s are the real villains who hide behind the facade of being caring and cheerful but are materialistic bullies who wind up throwing away most of their gifts. In actuality, that pretty much means that Max was once a gift that was thrown away and The Grinch found him and took him in. The Grinch didn’t really hate Christmas, he hated people.

One such adorable detail is that in adulthood, Martha wore the jewelry from the Grinch's gift in her hair. She was still very much in love. 😭😭😭

Jim Carrey was born to play the Grinch in live-action, especially with the makeup and costume

Jim Carrey actually wanted to give back his entire $20 million salary and quit the movie after dealing with the makeup/prosthetics the first few times he had to get into makeup. When they first started the film took about 6-8 hours to get him in makeup and he would have severe panic attacks and feel like he was suffocating. They brought in someone specifically from the military trained in dealing with torture and he was taught techniques/distractions to use to help get through it and he ended up staying!

Grinch’s heart so pure he decided to use himself to crash test and not Max instead of even conceiving the idea of creating a dummy 😭

As others have said, Taylor Momsen (Cindy Lou Who is all grown up now and the frontliner for the band The Pretty Reckless). Her and Jim Carrey actually just reunited this past month at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame awards after not seeing each other since they filmed the movie. It was an extremely heartwarming moment.

12:43 One thing very few people notice is that when Cindy Lou interviews Martha May, Martha is wearing a lot of silver and jewels in her hair and as a necklace. The very same silver and jewels from The Grinch's gift to her. She still cares about him after all those years!

One of the little details I missed for years is the fact that Martha May wears the jewels from the Christmas tree topper that the Grinch made for her. They are in her hair while she's talking to Cindy Lou👍🏼
