The video really captures the fascinating contrast between being one of gaming’s biggest hype men and actually delivering on those massive promises.

Peter Molyneux’s greatest skill was never coding, it was pitching features that didn't exist yet. The Bryan Henderson saga alone is absolute madness. Excellent documentary, Akshon!

The industry went from believing every word he said to questioning every trailer. What a fall.

He’s like sean murray. An excited guy with lots of ideas who was probably great for that but they shouldnt have kept letting him get in front of the camera before they were sure of what the final product could actually be.

The origin story about his unrelated company being given a games contract by mistake and deciding to just go with it is so funny.

This is a bit of quibble but Lionhead spinning out satellite studios, while potentially deceptive, is NOT a pyramid scheme. By definition a pyramid scheme relies on continually recruiting new people lower down on the chain. If the satellite studios were in turn spinning out their own studios, and those were then spinning out their own then that would be a pyramid scheme.

Greatest skill of Molyneux is his ability to shield his employee from upper management and give them more freedom and space to create and work.

Don’t know if he genuinely lied or was limited by the tech at the time but he was definitely ambitious and even though fable didn’t turn out the way he hyped it up to be it was a fantastic console rpg for its time.

Youtube not giving me the notification for this one but the algorithm knew. I vividly remember Curiosity and I liked Godus well enough but it was more a toy than an actual game. Like a neat ball and equally as disposable. Its hard to overstate the chokehold Fable had on things. And how much of a meme Molyneux became after Fable 2. His was one of the few game designer names that people had committed to memory. Honestly I had no clue about anything past Godus. He probably should have road off into the sunset after Fable 2 and gotten a nice corner office somewhere but you always hope for that one more hit.
