  In Ireland, there was a conflict, The Troubles, in which 3,500 died, thousands were injured and more than 10,000 bomb attacks took place. With this as the backdrop, O’Riordan was inspired to write about the deaths of three-year-old Johnathan Ball and 12-year-old Tim Perry. Both had died in bombings. The two young boys had gone into town to buy Mother’s Day cards on a busy street when the bomb went off.

  63yrs old. Born Derry - 1962. Grew up through "The Troubles". Don't want to see it again .............

  This song was inspired the 2 children lost in Warrington but Dolores is singing about the number of innocent lives lost during the Troubles and the tension that has existed for decades (since 1916, and even before that). Great job.

  I&apos;m Scottish with Irish heritage and grew up watching the troubles on the news. I remember going shopping in Glasgow in the 80&apos;s and having to leave stores due to bomb threats going off. It was much worse in Ireland where people had to regularly check under their cars for bombs.<br>R.I.P. Delores. So missed. The style of singing is called keening and is sung at Wakes in Ireland like a wail in mourning.

  I was lucky enough to see The Cranberries in concert as a teenager in the mid-90&apos;s. My cousin worked at the concert venue, so she was able to get us behind the scenes a little. Dolores and the band were playing ping pong, and we saw them from a distance. We yelled her name, and she called us over. We played with them for a minute or two. Best concert of my life.
