  I think this is the first time I've seen the DR monitor top need a deep repair on your channel. Very cool documentation in this video.

  Man.. I got super excited when this vid first popped up! This unit is about as close to a dead-ringer of mine that I&apos;ve seen so far; less mine being a DR3 with big brick start/run capacitor that&apos;s mounted just behind its condenser coils. Mine has similar brine working its way thru that evap outer shell. It too has/had same exact break point along bottom portion of control box&apos;s Bakelite frame. I&apos;ve repaired that with JB &quot;Kwik&quot;, which hardens up near exactly the same color of that part. This series will be fascinating &amp; helpful!   This was an awesome video (not for the customer of course) but catching the progressive ground on video! &nbsp;That brings back some childhood memories when I was helping my father work on an 70s refrigerator with a Tecumseh AT compressor that the customer was indicating once in a while they would feel a slight shock when opening the door but still working. &nbsp;I hooked up some incandescent bulb and a junk motor to ground and to the cabinet like you did and let it run. &nbsp;Then a few days later, bulb lit up and motor came on...so we saw a similar failure like you did...Also didn&apos;t realize these older compressors has crankcase/sump heaters. &nbsp;Very cool, thank you for this video, love what you do and bringing back to some good memories.

  what a video also very educational too, as somebody that works in the refrigeration field this kind of videos always catch my curiosity on top of being amazing see the roots of how hermetic compressors were develop during time <br><br>in resume amazing job saving those old fridges

  When you epoxy the case back together it will be pretty strong but I have found using carbon fiber strands and CA glueing them across the break on the inside can really strengthen it. The strands and CA glue are very thin and shouldn&apos;t interfere. I repaired a thin broken &quot;T&quot; section that was a guide on an instrument cluster plug that had broken off and I was amazed that it worked so well. As you can imagine trying to glue a thin plastic T section back on is an exercise in futility but this method worked great.
