The fact that there are people out there that have never played Tetris is insane. There btw is a very real pipeline from Tetris player to leftist

The interesting thing about the "Tetris belong to the government angle is that most Companies in America have this policy. I create automation logic and if I create it on a company computer my company owns it and can sell it to other businesses without me having any say or getting any additional payment for it.

I've lived in Russia, speak Russian and am part Russian. I do agree with Hasan on how they couldn't criticize the government. Russians have a deep connection to the arts and while there were censors trying to shut down certain messages, they certainly didn't try to stifle all art and movies.

Could you imagine trying to make Tetris whilst starving? I always found that ridiculous lol

Some of the greatest films ever made were made by soviet era Russian filmmakers

So to clear up the 17:00 confusion, the creators did want to go into business and sell the games but they knew they couldn't since the government wouldn't approve. But they still wanted to get their games out there so they figured it would be better to just give them out for free then just have them be forgotten.

George Lucas acknowledges something good about the USSR in the interview and has mentioned that many of the conflicts in Star Wars were influenced by his anti-war and anti-US imperialism beliefs (such as the Battle of Endor being inspired by Vietnam). In the Disney trilogy, the Abrams mentioned that the First Order is inspired by the USSR because evil. I think that difference in attitudes is pretty telling and kind of proves Lucas' point. People are always talking about Star Wars film needing to feel and look like a 'Star Wars' film. I'm sure everyone knows by now how the sequel trilogy is quite literally a copy of Lucas' original series.
