What hug? That didn't exist. <br>And you got yelled at when sick too because the coughing was annoying, you were "barking like a dog". <br>So you learn to hide the feelings.

Isn't that most ppl in the western world? The truth is noone is comfortable when you say you feel sad etc....They always minimize or tell you to be positive etc. My daughter's school has no idea either and call this unhealthy independence/ emotional repression " resilience".
