My freshman year roommate bought an Oscar in the first week we were together. We would get drunk and feed him live fish like guppies and baby goldfish. By the end of freshman year, he was bigger than my open palm.

Been keeping oscars for 30 or so years. Hikari color, frozen shrimp, crickets, thawed peas, and meal worms. Once maybe twice a year i drop a dozen or so danios for each to just swim and be the occasional snack. Have had most hit 10 to 14 years old. Start every one in a 10 as quarentine. At 4 inches or so they go to a 55. At 8 inches they go to a 75 or 90 for the rest of their lives.almost always keep them solo but i start them in groups of 3 to 5. If they get along they stay together (rare). 2 oscars i do 125 minimum no issues. Breeding pairs get separated. Over 100 clutches successfully hatched.

Hi I have a 220 gallon/840litre tank and have 5 oscars. I have had them for little a year. They have finally laid eggs on a flat rock. I am so excited.
