Heart paved the way for many female rock performers.  Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful and beautiful voices of all time, and Nancy has a beautiful voice as well.  You should watch them covering Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Honors for Led Zeppelin.  Robert Plant was in tears.

Nancy Wilson’s knee kick at the end of the opening guitar solo is the most Rock n Roll move ever.

"Magic Man" is IMO their best song but they have a bunch of great ones.

Also, an under rated song by Heart is 'Dog and Butterfly' I think you'd love it.

Ann Wilson is arguably the greatest female vocalist in rock history. Sister Nancy is also extremely talented on guitar, with the high harmonies, and even takes lead vocals on some songs (e.g., These Dreams). Loved your shock and reaction to hearing Heart for the first time.
