  Flats&apos; point on Overwatch&apos;s hero design, where each hero has very carefully designed strengths and weaknesses, reminds me of Team Fortress 2, and why that game&apos;s design holds up even after 20 years. Each class was designed with a specific purpose in mind, and specific weaknesses to keep them in check. I&apos;ll use Spy as an example.<br><br>Spy is a powerful class in TF2. He has the ability to go invisible, disable and destroy an enemy engineer&apos;s buildings, disguise himself as any member of your team and, most infamously, can <b>instantly kill</b> anyone with a single stab in the back. On paper, Spy sounds miserably overpowered. But he has some carefully designed drawbacks. <br><br>He is tied for the lowest HP in the game. His primary (revolver) is a very situational weapon and lacks a significant amount of damage to use regularly. His disguises can be seen through simply because players bump into enemies but not teammates, meaning that any physical contact with an enemy player is usually instant death. His disguises and cloak are rendered useless by a Pyro&apos;s flamethrower, Jarate or Mad Milk as they will visibly affect a spy in hiding. And while his backstab is devastating, simply turning around stops him. <br><br>Spies are frustrating, absolutely, but they&apos;re specifically designed to be glass cannons. His main weakness is awareness. Once a Spy kills you, you&apos;ll be on your guard the rest of the game. Compare this to someone like DPS Sombra who, in her current state, is still perfectly capable of eliminating an enemy if she is caught. Spy, in comparison, is <b>dead</b> if the enemy catch wind of him. Mind you, Spy&apos;s not perfect and has one or two weapons that really hurt his balance (Diamondback, Conniver&apos;s Kunai), but his base kit is astonishingly well-balanced. <br><br>Sorry for ranting about TF2 lmao, but its worth noting that Overwatch used TF2&apos;s design philosophies when making the game, so it makes sense that OW&apos;s heroes were (mostly) built with having specific strengths and weaknesses. Zenyatta is a good example: a support with the ability to heal allies and amplify the damage on enemies, combined with a hilariously powerful alt-fire and one of the best ults in the game at the time. He was balanced for this by having the chonkiest hitbox of any support, with no mobility and fairly limited healing compared to someone like Mercy.<br><br>Anyways, that&apos;s my vent.

  genuinely the best thing that ever happened to overwatch was rivals entering the picture. i hope that rival players swapping to overwatch does the same thing for rivals. as long as these two games are competing, both communities will be better for it.

  If rivals launched as a new ip and didn’t use marvel characters it would have died a year ago. The marvel ip and skins keep that game alive.

  I loved Doc. Can’t wait for season 5. Overwatch isn’t perfect but I love it. Been playing about a year now
