I really wished, to be able making new speaker cones in the original way. Sooner or later, we will run out of spare parts for these old speakers. And I believe those old loudspeakers possessed special characteristics regarding efficiency and sound quality. Despite having a power handling capacity of only a few watts, they played relatively loudly while still delivering good sound.
Nowadays, loudspeakers feature heavier voice coils designed for higher power, as well as thicker, heavier cones. This is detrimental to the sound quality found in those old radios.

"when tapping steel only go half a turn at a time and then back up." By "half" do you mean 6? You're tapping with a sodding drill. I think you know you ought to be using a *Tap Handle*.
"We'll darken the edges with ─ a dark color." You gotta love it when a plan comes together,

I don't know how it is in the States, but in Europe (Belgium f.i.) all AM and even FM transmitters have been shut down. Question of saving power. (A 100 kW AM transmitter uses about the same amount of modulator power...)
Everything has gone digital, cable and internet transmissions. So it is not worth while restoring old radios or televisons. They only would be a useless ornament.
That's progress...
Anyway, your work is fantastic. !! What a knowledge, what skills.! Congratulations !

Superglue hardens under the influence of watervapour, or say, humidity.
That's why it glues your fingers together in seconds.!
