Yorkshire pudding is not bread or pastry. It's batter and it's lovely, soaked in gravy.

Many houses were built long BEFORE washing machines, etc., were invented. So they have to be located where they can be hooked up to electrical and water services.

The TV license fee is also applied in France; it funds national (state) television, unlike private television channels which are self-funded.

The TV licence lasts for one year. The money goes to the BBC to finance their programmes. In turn there are no advertising or sponsorship breaks.

Tea time is regional. Being from the North of England but living in the South I had to adjust. In the North we had breakfast in the morning, dinner time was the midday meal and tea time was evening meal.

In the South, its breakfast, lunch and dinner instead and 'come for tea' would be around 4 pm for sandwiches, cake and tea or just cake and tea.

Every light controlled pedestrian crossing in the UK is named after a winged creature:
Pelican: Standard pedestrian crossing with the indicator to cross shown on the opposite side of the road (these are being phased out)
Puffin: New version of the pelican crossing. Indicator to cross is on the same side as the pedestrian and also has a rotating knob underneath for blind people to feel when it's safe to cross
Toucan: Crossing for pedestrians and cyclists - two can cross
Pegasus: Crossing for pedestrians and horses (Pegasus being the winged horse from Greek mythology)

Zebra crossings are not light controlled but often have belisha beacons to warn motorists they are there from a distance

Washing machines are in the kitchens for two main reasons. First is that as said in the video most houses don't have space for them elsewhere in the house. This is due mainly to older houses predating the introductions of things like washing machines, but even a lot of modern houses are built small, and we don't really have an issue with having a washing machine in the kitchen anyway as it's a norm here. The second reason is that the kitchen is a part of the house with a main water connection, so it's ideal to just install them in a kitchen, not far from the sink.

In Sweden we have something very similar to "the Royal Stamp of Approval". Here it is called Royal Court Supplier "Kunglig Hovleverantör" and can best be described as a kind of honor and is expected to testify to high quality.
I think the other kingdoms in Scandinavia have it too.
