Kreed Maykr's design is like if Baron Harkonnen, the Prophet Hierarchs from Halo and the Boogieman from Nightmare Before Christmas had a baby

That idea of the slugs being a sort infant form of maykrs was a seriously good one, makes more sense than what Hugo said. I think the Kreed was acting alone tho when he made his deal with Ahzrak, the way I interpret the Maykr hivemind is thats more of a psuedo hivemind, all maykrs are connected by it, but its purpose is to make all the lesser makyrs obey the will of the Khan. It also serves in the birth of the Khans as stated in the Eternal Codexes. 10/10 lore video. I can see you becoming the Doom communities own Vaatividya at this rate with this level of quality.

“unless the devs overlooked their own lore”

That is precisely my guess.

Eternal: “The only way into Immora is the Gate of Divuum” except 20 minutes later Valen arrives with 30portals with his rag-tag crew of rebels.

That was quick, lol.

Edit: I feel dumb that my only comment was sorta negative. Love your lore videos, and how you treat these stories with often equal or more care than the devs themselves seemingly.

There's an easter egg on one of the new Revelations maps containing the 'makyr slugs' and a huge one too!

Kreed's body revealing he's composed of slugs is very similar to the Khan Maykr being revealed to be more ghastly and fleshy at the end of her fight. It's sort of the throughline of Maykrs: they are false angels, presenting themselves as pristine but are secretly disgusting and manipulative.

Suggesting that the slugs are Kreed's young... Kreed is a mommy????? Lol.

Hugo's answer on the stream is simultaneously cool yet disappointing. Hearing they're artificial bio-mechanical creations who are just "a part of his anatomy" is interesting, but now I wanna know more! They feed him energy? Maybe they're little drones that collect things for him during daily management? I'll try not to think too hard about it haha.

Maybe Kreed is like a seahorse where the male carries the young.

I loved it. It's like you get to exact revenge on a corrupt politician.

Figured the slugs were some kind of way to avoid or postpone transfiguration, though because i imagined them eating the eldritch flesh or something. Might be possible that since the slugs are feeding Kreed energy, they could be some kind of pre-argent energy band-aid solution

The makers feel less like heaven, and more like a bad church.

The way I see it, the angels are basically 3D printed xenomorphs controlled by a theocratic technocracy. Their actual "bodies" are entirely artificial, and the actual being of makyrs is just the big yellow core, like the cores of Evangelion angels. Plug those cores into a 3D printed biomechanoid body designed by bootleg Adrian Carmack, and the central authority can create power structures as needed by physically altering the bodies of their underlings. So only the queen can make praetorians.

We see that the Seraphim are a little different and less "obviously" mechanical but then that's kind of the entire point of something being "biomechanical" in the first place, so that's kind of a whole thing. But I want to point out that so far as I'm aware the old caste system only functioned before god died, and given that kreed is a glorified power plant manager, I don't think its a caste that would have existed in the before times. I think the khan makyr invented it as part of her new, post-divinity power structure she adopted out of necessity for survival. So maybe there's nothing stopping her from changing the god machine's programming to upload her own blender models for a new caste of makyr, but we don't really know that for sure, and it's possible that with such a rigidly ordered technocratic infrastructure she actually has limits to what things she can even change at all.

So my guess is, the kreed makyrs represent a kind of technological devolution where instead of a single new body being constructed for high ranking angels, she just kinda plugged a bunch of angel larva into a single core to turn them into a gestalt entity, which would functionally hijack the hivemind-based programming language by making the god computer perceive the kreed as an entity equal to a priest or deacon or something. She's basically jailbreaking the hivemind in order to maintain stricter control over her power plants. Which, functionally, makes her actions indistinguishable from what Hell does with fallen angels, except her modifications are still limited.

Which, if I'm reading the vibes right, means Hugo isn't confused or didn't think aboot it very hard, it actually makes him spot on. The larval angels are mechanical in the same sense that everything else in Heaven is, because aside from the soul energy, every single thing in Urdak is artificially produced by machines that essentially run themselves, including the "biological" bodies of the makyrs. And the "feeding on"/"symbiotic" aspect is just a way to put that hivemind/gestalt entity thing into biological terms. So, y'know, maybe his terminology sounds a bit naff, but if you read the room on what Doom's version of angels are actually meant to be - technocratic authoritarian AI bro false hope xenomorph monsters that are more of a lateral move from Hell than opposed to it in any meaningful way - it makes the same amoont of sense as anything else in these games.
