  I'm in Arizona. The moisture related tips mostly don't apply to me, as well as the short trips tip.

  I use recirculate often. But keep the glass roof popped up for fresh air and to hear ambient noise

  You don’t need to put a bmw in neutral for a 30 sec stop, the car shuts off the engine automatically and restarts when you lift the brake. In fact putting it in neutral introduces redundant mechanical cycles and doesn’t improve any fuel economy

  A BMW engineer has said to let your engine warn up about 2 minutes or when the tech reaches standard idle RPM range and then drive gently for the first few miles. Then before shut down again let the car idle for a minute thus saving the longevity of the turbo

When you are stationary with your foot on the brake, the transmission automatically releases the clutches to eliminate the load on the torque converter.&quot; No load = no heat.<br>In contrary, if you shift to neutral with every red light that is literaly longer than 30 seconds as adviced here (let&apos;s say, 60 seconds countdown), you add more wear to transmission shifting elements as said &quot; Manually shifting back and forth between Drive and Neutral at every single stoplight causes unnecessary wear on the shift elements, shift solenoids, and the transmission control module&quot;...<br>I would rather say, don&apos;t shift to (N)eutral/(P)ark in regular (less than 2 minutes) trafic red lights. Do it only for extra prolonged traffic red lights, road construction stop lights with 5 minutes countdown or so and you will do better for your transmission IMHO.

  Great question — most modern BMWs (2007 onwards) don&apos;t have a physical dipstick. You check oil level through the iDrive menu: Engine On &gt; wait 2 mins at idle &gt; go to Vehicle Info &gt; Oil Level. For older models with a dipstick, check cold on a level surface before starting. Either way, if it smells burnt — trust that over the CBS counter. 👍
