  Most wouldn&apos;t put Deep Purple in the big 4 of Metal, however, they are definitely in the Unholy Trinity of 70s Metal along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. These three bands truly birthed the genre and everyone would take influence from them going forward. <br><br>This song is much more Hard Rock but they surely had quite a bit of Heaviness to their sound, especially for the time.

  You have the story partly right. &nbsp;The band was in Montreux, Switzerland, to record the album &quot;Machine Head.&quot; &nbsp;They were going to work in the gambling house, where Frank Zappa and his band were playing. &nbsp;Some idiot shot a flare gun inside the building which set the building on fire. &nbsp;The band had to scramble to find another place to work. &nbsp;They had the Rolling Stones mobile studio with them to do the recording (hence the Rolling Stones thing outside). &nbsp;They had to run cables through windows into the hotel (this was offseason so the hotel was not open). &nbsp;They also were pressed for time because they had work visas and they only allowed them so long. &nbsp;The whole story is fascinating. &nbsp;At the time I am sure it was very stressful but it makes for great memories.

  It wasn&apos;t a show as such, Deep Purple was there to record an album in the studio at the casino that burned down.

  The great Ritchie Blackmore on the axe,<br>Jon Lord,greatest keyboard player in history.<br>Roger Glover with bass that will shatter glass.<br>Ian Paice,in my top 3 drummers of all time,a truly great drummer and a lovely bloke too.<br>Last but certainly not least,Ian Gillan with pipes that are both beautiful and powerful with a range to die for.<br><br>That fellas,is one of the greatest bands……in history.

  Deep Purple are legendary musicians! Jon Lord is an iconic keyboardist and is considered one of the most influential and keyboardists in Rock music, up with Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman. Ian Gillan is a phenomenal vocalist that really pioneered the high inhuman notes that bands like Judas Priest would go on to perfect! He&apos;d also join Black Sabbath after Dio left for a short period. And we can&apos;t forget the legendary Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, man was the very beginning when it came to adding classical elements to Rock and Metal guitar solos, making the leads sound like Baroque pieces, all in the context of down, dirty and heavy distorted Blues Rock! He would also go on to form Rainbow.

  This is easily the most known riff in the world ever for people growing up in the 70s and 80s. It was the first (and pretty much only) guitar riff I ever learned. It&apos;s unfathomable how easy it is. Anyone in the world can learn it in no time at all.

  The original &quot;Unholy Three&quot;, as dubbed by the British press, of Heavy Metal music was Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Priest, Maiden and Motorhead came along later. &nbsp;This song was based on a true story about a huge fire in Montreaux, Switzerland at an old Casino. &nbsp;This was the Mark II (two not eleven) version of Deep Purple which is Richie Blackmore-Guitar, Ian Gillan-Vocals, Jon Lord-Keyboards, Roger Glover-Bass and Ian Paice-Drums. Singer ian Gillan was the voice of Jesus on the original recording of &quot;Jesus Christ Superstar&quot; by Andrew Lloyd Weber.. Not a religious nod, just a purely musical recommendation, on your own time, not here. &nbsp;For your channel, I&apos;d say &quot;Space Truckin&apos; &quot; or &quot;Highway Star&quot; should be next.
