As well as being tough as teak, this man had all the skills of a back. A great Union player who would have been an outstanding League player also.

played in the era of New Zealandss great loose forwards, the likes of Buck, Iceman, Alan Whetton, Zinzan, Mike Brewer, Ginge Henderson. etc Not only did Zinny redefine how loose fowards would play forever but his skill level was next level. Zinny is a great guy off the pitch, he came to Ireland a couple of years ago stayed with me for the weekend, gave his tickets to the AB v Ireland away to be sold for charity ,then just watched the ABs with the lads at the local, they still talk about it today, how they got to chat to Zinzan in the pub. Always humble and a great man that i call a friend.

Zinzan was definitely a phenomenal player and tough as hell. <br><br>As a South African I think he was one tough customer.

Played #8 all throughout my school rugby days, late 80s to early mid 90s. Zinny was my idol, tried my best to imitate what he did on the field and how he played the game. Zinny was a natural born leader and had that self competitive/confidence that was unmatched. Imo hes the best #8 that ever played the game, thank you for the inspiration Zinny👊💯❤️
