Greetings from South Africa guys. For me Fitzy was one of the best AB captains I've seen (been watching test rugby from the 70's). Real gentleman off the field, but uncompremising on it. Old school. Wasn't surprised when they won that series in 1996.

as an aussie ,for me sean [he was a bit like a pirate with his merry men ,plundering and pillaging ] was an inspirational leader .[few and far between,francois from the boks , mal meninga [was /is a great leader of men] ,nick far jones , john ealls was probably the most effective and understated .[but he had his workhorse totto kefu to spark things up like willi O was when he was around .  ] he could really spark those forwards up.<br>credit where credit is due ,sean .

Francois. Pienaar was about to start an U10 match, his uncle  offered him R5 for every try he scored.  He played and scored 13 tries. He ran immediately at final whistle to collect his money. And in those days R65 was pretty good !!.  I would never have dropped after 1996, but Markgraff was intimidated by his presence. Praise God we have Rassie.
