  Many fans wanted Ted to end up with Robin but the show had spent YEARS building up the "not-Robin-mother", they couldn't just pivot and end with Robin being the mother... so trying to please everybody they killed the mother and got Robin in, ending up pleasing nobody

  The whole thing with Robin is also wrong for the fact that he marries his “dream” girl claiming he loved her more than anyone and still kept Robin around, and what all those feelings he had for Robin were just surprised or disappeared while he was with Tracy?😂

  The entirety of the last season was wasted on one wedding where the marriage didn&apos;t even last, and which should&apos;ve been two episodes tops, with the rest being about Ted and Tracy.

  To be fair, Barney fell in love with Robin the first day he met her as he was introducing her to Ted using the pick-up line &quot; Have you met Ted&quot;. When he realized that Ted actually had genuine feelings for her, he chose to distract himself with women. In hindsight, he had the softest spot for Robin. Every season, Barney showed that he loved her without mentioning it until one moment, when he confessed to Lily how he felt about her. He was willing to go out of his way to make her feel good, even if ut meant trolling her.

  The thing about Barney is that, while probably not a good person in real life, the Barney we see in the show is the Barney that Ted remembers. And Ted, while a good storyteller, isn&apos;t the most reliable narrator. Given the context of the finale, it&apos;s obvious that Ted was at least partially (if not fully intentionally) portraying Barney in a bad light, or at least amplifying his most negative character traits. Does that excuse Barney&apos;s actions? No. Does that provide context for how he&apos;s portrayed? Absolutely

  The biggest mistake was Ted x Robin and letting the mother die. The creators reasoning also suck. They say they wanted to show how unfair life can be and YET they write Ted and Robin together because of an ending they thought about since the beginning without considering character plots and dynamics. Oh the irony.<br><br>Also the whole season 9 was about Barney, Robin and their marriage and then they just divorce, they should have stayed together and learn to nourish their marriage instead.

  The first part about Barney is slightly better by looking back at all of the story as being retold by Ted. We can assume he has exaggerated Barney’s worst actions and illegal actions to be not true.

  Introduced this show to my wife 5yrs ago. Going in i told her it’s amazing however the last season and its ending will piss you off. Fast forward 5yrs and she is still mad😂. We still love it tho.
