  Well done, Dorothy and John. I take my hat off to you both. What you had/have was the gift of looking into the future. Whilst standing there in 1991, looking down at an inhospitable, barren-looking area of solid rock, you saw the opportunity to pair with nature and create what you have created now. You didn&apos;t just look and say if only, you went and did it. Congrats to you both. My hat is off to you. &nbsp;👏

  This happened in my country Malaysia. Many tin mines now have turned into lakes in townships where residental areas are developed. They have provided the city with flora and fauna, keeping the temperature down for people to live comfortably.

  I had the pleasure of staying onsite &nbsp;, sculpting and working on the tree&apos;s as an Arborist student and tutor &nbsp;. John n Dorothy are from my parents Generation , &nbsp;they cared ,to share their dream .<br>A collective approach , acheived an ecosystem &nbsp;in &nbsp;a quater lifetime . Congratulations <br>Wonder if the &nbsp;Nessie, &nbsp;I made for them was recovered after C&apos; Gabriel ?

  Used to take my kids here in the weekends. They had interactive sculptures and names on all the trees. Totally amazing place!!!

  The corporations who profit off of the land should be responsible for returning the land back to a natural state. This should not be the exception, it should be the rule.

  I live in the Harz Mountains in Germany. When the bark beetles began to decimate the centuries-old spruce population, it was decided not to intervene, in order to speed up the restructuring of the forest that was expected to occur anyway due to climate change. <br>A few years later, when much of the spruce near my hometown had died off, some people decided to plant trees on the bare ground. Every now and then, I revisit the spot that my daughter had been helping to revive.<br>Now, five years later, I’m happy to see nature returning. Except for the forest trail, every little patch is green and alive. I counted a variety of different trees, shrubs, and perennials.<br>What surprised me most is that it’s not just the area where the trees were planted that has been revitalized. Frankly, I couldn’t tell any difference between the area where they had planted the trees and the areas that had been left alone. I guess sometimes the best we can do to help nature return is simlply to leave it alone.

  Sad the storm did what it did. But I think it’s for the best long term, all those trees will form growth platforms. It will all decompose and provide much denser stability for soil. Great job John and Dorothy 🎉
