  We've been living in Bear Valley Springs for about 5 five years (and we actually have towering pines and Oak trees here) which is 10 miles West of the city of Tehachapi (tuh-HACH-uh-pee; yeah the AI pronunciation is comical) and it's just a wonderful place, especially the wild life including bears, elk, deer, bob cats, mountain lions, foxes, numerous hawk species and even the occasional Condor. The wind issue is greatly exaggerated. Yes we have wind in the high desert, but it's only occasionally extreme, the real wind is in the foothills about 15 miles east of town where the turbines are and even then there are many days when half the turbines are not even turning. Otherwise there is usually a nice breeze that mitigates the summer temperatures. We also have temperate spring and fall weather and snow in the winter. The Tehachapi Loop is about 8 1/2 miles West down Hwy 58 from the City of Tehachapi in the unincorporated community of Keene, and no, very few people sit around drinking coffee watching the trains, but Keene does have an old fashion Cafe that serves a decent breakfast and lunr. Tehachapi City is an old railroad town, but they also have a lot of community events, including an annual apple festival and a rodeo at the fair grounds every July 4th. About the only thing the announcer got right is this is not a progressive friendly area; the population tends to be very patriotic and we don't tend to put up with poor behavior.

  Guess I am blessed, have lived in Grass Valley, Auburn, and currently live in Placerville. How about Westwood, Lake Almanor,  Hat Creek etc.....PS your AI sucks screwed up pronunciation of almost every town mentioned.Nevada city was great till people like Ex Governor Brown moved there.
