They weren’t dumb.  They made dumb choices like the rest of us.  Human nature, pride, bad advice and confusion makes us make decisions we regret over time.

There's a YT clip of Frankie Lyman performing on Dick Clark's Hollywood A Go Go in 1965, well past Lyman's heyday. Even though he's lip syncing to Why Do Fools Fall In Love, his energy and dance moves were dynamite! Three years later he was dead. Such a tragedy.

Well so far I've only listened as far as Tiny Tim & Bobby Darren, but I'm done with this. Calling artists "dumb" because they followed their hearts instead of the cynical advice of their agents, is typical of what's wrong with America today. To hell with the moneygrubbers.

It's untrue that Frankie Lymon's backup group made "Why Do Fools Fall In Love'' become a hit.  That kid had a great voice with, or without his backup group, and ''Why....''' was a great song.   Lack of a good follow-up song had to have been at least part of  the cause of his fall from fame.

There are a lot of people who have a single talent worth millions, but otherwise are dumb as a box of rocks. Many wealthy athletes die young and broke.
