  My brother died of colon cancer today. This is me working through my grief. Trying to figure out if anything could have been done to save his life. Please say a silent prayer for him. His name was Ernest.

  10 years ago I started having bowel changes. Started off as suddenly needing to go. Then when normal there was loads of mucous. A year into that, I had a long stretch of diarrhoea lasting 6 weeks, I went to the doctor, they dismissed it as anxiety. I kept going back. They told me it was IBS and that my blood results were too good for anything sinister. I pleaded for a colonoscopy, the doctor literally said &quot;you are more likely to die from a complication of the colonoscopy than you are to have bowel cancer.&quot; I gave up after that. I&apos;ve just accepted I have IBS. To this day, 10 years on, I still have frequent loose stools. Things have never returned to normal. And while I absolutely accept the likelihood of anything sinister being the cause here is basically 0 and I simply have IBS, my problem is that doctors are the main culprit behind late diagnosis of Bowel Cancer. I&apos;m one of the lucky ones, in that, my symptoms probably are just SIBO/IBS/Functional. But thousands of people every year have the same story as mine but they end up having bowel cancer. Doctors are too dismissive. Too apathetic.

  I am 19 and had to have a colonoscopy due to persistent symptoms. They found a precancerous growth in me, and I am ONLY 19!!!!! It&apos;s scary how common colon cancer is getting.

  I was diagnosed with stage 3b rectal cancer in 2021 and I&apos;m still kicking but I have a warning for people, don&apos;t trust you&apos;re doctor. &nbsp;I went to my GP in 2020 as I was shitting blood and he just dismissed it as hemorrhoids and didn&apos;t even bother to check anything. &nbsp;I eventually went to a different doctor. &nbsp;Thankfully he&apos;s lost his license.

  I work on the ambulances. Attended a 75 year old chap, quite private. He hadn&apos;t said anything to his wife but she was aware that he&apos;d had diarrhoea for the last 3 months, with diminished appetite for the last 6 months &nbsp;and weight loss. <br>We were called because he&apos;d had a seizure. <br>Turns out he had an unstageable bowel cancer with space occupying brain metastices. He was sadly dead in a couple of days, mostly due to his sense of embarrassment.

  I too was diagnose stagd 4 colon last year. <br>Already metastases to liver stomach and neck lymph nodes <br>They gave me just months to survive this.<br>Now 2 months into chemo &amp; praying daily that by God &amp; some miracle i can beat this awful illness. 🙏<br>Never ever give up hope when life is concerned. <br>Symptom wise i had severe stomach pain &amp; constipation <br>Which my Dr fobbed me off with for many weeks until i was hospitalized with the pains/ scanned &amp; given MRI results within 2 weeks of this .<br>I wish everyone well if your faced with this terrible condition. <br>❤

  Menopause digestion scared me at one point 😩 bloating, constipation, random cramps had me googling worst case scenarios. Tests came back fine but I still felt off and anxious. Nothing I tried truly balanced my gut. Then in a support group someone mentioned the Menopause Transition Playbook by Lisa Grant. I followed it and 30 lbs gone, digestion smooth, sleep steady. Calmed both my body and my mind.

  I think it often isn’t about people recognising symptoms, it is about doctors not taking it seriously. My friend was going to the doctor on and off for 5 years with the doctors telling him he was too young and probably his diet or piles etc. They only took him seriously when he was jaundiced and it was in his liver and was too late for treatment. He died less than two months later. Why didn’t the doctor just do the tests the first time or even any time in the first couple of years?
