Honestly, Manny's overreactions and protectiveness make total sense. He's already been shown to have strong parental instincts, yeah, but also, he's already LOST a family; a child. He was helpless to save them. Now, he is going to do everything in his power to protect his family, even if it means he overreacts sometimes.

In fairness to Sid, he’s got abandonment issues and has always been trying to fill the hole in his heart left after returning Pinky to his herd.

“Sid! Give them to her, she’s their mother!”
“How do I know she’s their mother?!”
“What? do you want a birth certificate?! SHE’S A DINOSAUR!!”
“Well I put in the blood, sweat and tears to raise them!”
“For a DAY! GIVE THEM BACK YOU LUNATIC!”

Probably my favorite convention in the movie

The guy squirrel is named Scrat, by the way. The female squirrel? Her name is Scratte.

They are chaotically perfect for each other in literally every way, and no one can change my mind on that.
