Australia is nearly the same size of the United states of America, yes I will repeat that Australia is nearly the same size as the United states of America and we are capable of producing fresh fruit and vegetables and are also capable of transporting it so that it stays fresh to every supermarket in every corner of Australia.
We're quite famous for having fresh food here and we have systems in place to transport the food over long distances, the problem with the states is you don't have those systems in place and your goal isn't to have fresh fruit and vegetables it's to have fruit and vegetables that can sit on the shelf as long as possible.
We have laws in place here to make certain that none of our produce is chemically treated in order to prolong a shelf life and yet we are able to move our produce far and wide and still keep it fresh.
This goes to prove your country is capable of producing and transporting fresh produce- you just choose not to

Remember, prices in the European shops are „After taxes“. The totals doesn‘t bump up more beyond the total, at the register.

The size of the US is no excuse. I live in the UK and we do not grow oranges here but we still managed to have fresh oranges. We buy them from the places that do grow them. In many cases we are buying things from places farther away than any state is from another state.

Wisconsin has an excellent climate for agriculture and could grow virtually everything it needs but American agriculture is based on vast industrial monocultures and not small mixed farms as we have in the UK.

The problem in America is not size at all it is an unhealthy obsession with turning everything into a factory.

That tiny display of American food in the supermarket is sad, but you need to remember most American foodstuff cannot be imported into Europe because of the preservatives, growth hormones, colourants, sugars, flavourings, etc, etc. Fortunately .....

The woman who talks about transporting produce, is wrong.
The northern Europe(of which she conveniently cut most off) has one growth season (summer), the south has 2 (spring and fall). So many products get transported from south to north, from Spain or Portugal to Norway, from Italy to Finland most of the year. Just like California or Florida could transport to Chicago or even up to Canada. In the very same manner. It's maybe more a lack planning or more likely, due to the money - as everything is in the US?!

Red licorice isn't licorice AT ALL. It's just candy!
Actual licorice is black and contains licorice root extract - yes, it is literally made from a root.
You can actually buy the root online. It's edible, though you typically just chew on it to get the flavor.

LOL the guy buys a carton of milk that literally says on the cover, "it's not milk". Another reason to learn multiple languages.

No sugar for American means it's sweet enough for European.

When he said "Our toilet paper is brown...." my mind immediately went to "No! You're not supposed to use it second hand!" 😂

Hmmm. He calls Harrods Food Hall a "grocery store" but that's not even terminology we have in the UK - he's saying it for clicks. It's a food hall, not a supermarket/corner shop, and those are already upmarket as they're part of department stores so they're for specialist foods rather than everyday items. Beyond that, it's the Harrods one so you can get this downstairs and then also spend literally millions on a yacht upstairs. This is the oligarch shop, and the prices reflect that.
