  Some of these stories are incredibly sad. It’s a reminder that the people who brought us comfort and laughter could be fighting battles no audience ever saw.

  Regarding Joseph Kearns, &quot;George Wilson&quot; on <i>Dennis the Menace</i> -- There was an episode where Mr. Wilson showed his pocket watch to Dennis and Tommy(?) and promised he&apos;d leave it to Dennis when he died. The two kids spent the rest of the episode speculating about Mr. Wilson&apos;s pending demise -- I only ever saw it once, first-run, and I don&apos;t think I was 10 but I remember how funny that episode was!<br><br>But Kearns didn&apos;t use a prop ... He used his own pocket watch, and Jay North was actually fascinated with it (which made some of his covetous acting in the episode more &quot;method&quot; than Shakespearean).<br><br>But when Joe Kearns died, he left that watch to Jay North.

  Wow, they were very good actors. A lot going on behind the scenes. They brought joy to the screen for decades now. Sad to hear what they were suffering from.

  Alice Pierce was a fantastic actress. Her dance &amp; song routine with Gene Kelly is something to watch! 😄 Gene actually chose her to do that part, he wanted no other person. That speaks volumes about her acting. 👌

  The John Ritter story at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TPYGML965c&amp;t=2004">33:24</a> really stayed with me. He spent his career making people laugh through impossible falls, yet his own death came from something so sudden and difficult to recognize in time. And the fact that <b>Eight Simple Rules</b> had to turn the real loss into part of the story makes it even more heartbreaking. Which story affected you the most—John Ritter’s, or one of the child stars who struggled after fame disappeared?

  I remember watching &quot;the owl man&quot;, as my little girl self called Floyd the barber on the Andy Griffith Show. That show had all sorts of &quot;funny strange&quot; people: Barney Fife and his &quot;nip it in the bud&quot;, Gomer Pyle and his funny voice, drunk Otis Campbell locking himself into jail, Howard Sprague, the town clerk, and Floyd Lawson, who looked like an owl &nbsp; and cooed like a dove. I felt so sad that he had a stroke, but I thought he was so brave to continue on and so glad that the others accomodated him. I was 13 when I heard of his death. Seven years since I first saw him on Andy, and it was like losing a favourite uncle.

  Timeless, few of us have broadcast-quality lives. &nbsp;Each and every one of us have survived difficult circumstances to whatever degree, and it is in addressing those realities has plagued some of us and made the rest of us stronger. Keep that in mind during your next expose.
