  The cold thing is real, first thing I learned when studied to be a paramedic in Canada, "a person is not dead unless they are warm and dead"... People have been successfully revived after up to 2 hours of cardiac arrest in near-freezing temperatures, especially when CPR is continuous and advanced hospital support (like ECMO) is used... The cold also can prevent brain damage as well, for example Anna Bågenholm was trapped under ice in freezing water in 1999 in Sweeden and had 80 minutes of CPR before rewarming in a hospital. She fully recovered with no permanent neurological damage.... Human body is amazing

  Watching Nikki go through an entire movie of exposure therapy is nuts. The Special Edition adds so much to the explanation of the NTEs, the whole thing makes so much more sense. The water tentacle scene is one of the first CG special effects and the tech used in making it directly led to the effects in T2.

  Yeah, you think the movie scares you about the water, it&apos;s said that Ed Harris refused to speak about his harrowing experiences filming The Abyss. Accounts from others describe a near-drowning incident where he ran out of air and the safety diver got entangled in cables, causing Harris to inhale water when given an upside-down regulator by another crew member before another cameraman intervened to provide a working regulator. The stressful conditions led Harris to break down in tears later that day, and he was so upset by the incident that he remained unwilling to discuss it even years later. Apparently, his experience was just one of several near-death incidents during the production of The Abyss.
