Bought a 2016 LR4 several months ago with good service history. Changed all fluids and bought new Falkens. Looks new inside and out. Drives great. Great HP. Love it!

That comment about the Jaguar V8 and people saying stay away from the 4.4 is completely utterly wrong the exact opposite😂 everyone says that the 4.4 and The Supercharged 4.2 are extremely reliable and long-lasting. It is the 5.0 Jaguar V8 with the timing chain issues and the cooling issues. I have an lr3 also I have a discovery 2 with a 4.0 V8 and it's actually great if you modify the cooling system with a different thermostat style placed in a different position right after the engine before the radiator. You can keep it running in the 180 and 190 and not have those issues of the old Rover v8. Also the discovery 2 has more easily modified setup with solid axles Etc it's pretty awesome

Land rovers of this era are a sweet spot only those who haven't experienced them can hate on

I live in Kenya, where the everyone either has a Land Rover or Land Cruiser and we joke that a Land Rover will take you anywhere in the world but a Land Cruiser will bring you back. I love your videos as you are honest about going overroading in the US.

I really like this dialogue format. Feels like I'm just hanging out with friends.

A year ago, I bought a high-mileage 5th gen 4Runner, and I love that thing. I did consider Wranglers with a manual but never a Land Rover. I'm so intrigued by your experience with the LR3!

I got an LR3 as a project vehicle couple of years ago and the experience is really something. I love driving that thing. I've had to do some work on it so I totally subscribe to the motto that land rover has been turning owners into mechanics, but it's because the driving experience is worth it.

The LR3 and Wrangler both do certain things really well, but if you're looking at the complete package, the GX470 is the easy choice. Body-on-frame, full-time 4WD, solid V8, Toyota reliability, comfortable interior, and a drivetrain that's proven to go 300k+ miles. It'll cruise down the highway in comfort, then turn around and handle trails that most owners will never fully push it on. The Wrangler wins if your only priority is hardcore off-roading. The LR3 has great capability but can't touch the GX when it comes to long-term reliability and ownership costs. If you're factoring in daily driving, comfort, parts availability, resale value, and reliability, the GX470 is in a different league. There's a reason you still see 20 year old GX470s on the road every day while a lot of LR3s have already disappeared.

I love your videos! Real guys, real talk, real friends, just super refreshing. This jeep build was EXACTLY what people need to see - and your comments about the Rover being, essentially, too capable is spot on. I also appreciate you guys crossing tribes and not being so dogmatic that you’re willing to see and appreciate what Toyota people are doing, and the Jeepers, and the Land Rover guys. And you said it, life is short, it’s your money, just go get something you like and have fun!

As someone who is new to off-roading, and jumped in with not 1 but 2 Land Rovers. A 2022 Discovery 5 that is our nice family car (that's a beast off road) and encouraged me to buy a 2013 LR4 that I love. It's had all the "issues" handled, and it feels bulletproof and special every time I get in. The whole driving experience special and enjoyable, every drive.

Bought my 2013 LR4 new. Still have it and like you said "once you know, you know". I hope to keep if longer. Just at 111,000 now. A big part is finding a shop that knows the brand and that you trust. Thanks for the post!
