I knew nothing of Range Rovers when I came across and bought my 2009 Sport HSE 4.4 ltr. I replaced bad tires and a dying battery.
Ive had 2 years of great driving experience. I now know why I hear nothing but negative comments when my experience has been great. The only breakdown Ive had was recently the signal wire feeding the transmissions TCM module lost connection somewhere . Troubleshooting took awhile but the fix was relatively easy and I did it myself. So, knock on wood, I agree this year and model is outstanding.

The best Land Rover of all - the 2016 Discovery 4 (LR4). I bought mine, a 2016 Landmark version, in 2023 with only one previous owner, only 34,000 miles on the clock, full service history and JLR warranty for £37,000. I could not resist such a vehicle, it still looked brand new. This has the SDR6 V6 diesel engine made by Ford (the same engine is in the Discovery 3/LR3, but a bit beefed up for the D4/LR4). I have had it three years now and have driven about 10,000 miles a year. I had the gearbox oil, transfer box and differential oils changed at 60,000 miles. I do an oil change every 6-months (5,000 miles) and also clean the engine with BG245 every 6-months. I had the underside Lanoguarded and re-do every couple of years to protect against rust. I did upgrade the wheels from 20" to 19" so I can use the Falkaen Wildpeak A/T AT3WA all terrain, all season tyres that have the three peak snowflake symbol that make them legal for winter driving in Europe (I could not find any 20" tyres that fitted this spec). The standard was 255/50/R20 - I now use 255/55/R19 which have the same outside diameter as the standard tyre, but the taller sidewall gives a more comfortable ride and better protects the rims against curbing. I did change the filament bulbs for sealed LED units as these are brighter and do not suffer from fogging nor the ingress of water like the ones with changeable bulbs. The sealed LED front fog lights were a big improvement over the standard ones as the originals were particularly prone to letting in water and fogging up.

I do a wide range of driving: some local, some medium to long distance and some very long, including 2,500 mile cross Europe round trips. It has been very reliable, still looks brand new and I will never sell it. the only real problem was when the sunroof drain tube perished and split and let water into the passenger footwell - I changed both. Something probably worth changing about every 8 years to stop this happening.

I did notice that your list seemed to be based on petrol (called "gasolene" in the USA) engines. These were not normally available in the UK where they were only available with diesel engines. I average about 30mpg in my diesel D4.

I have a 65 plate Range Rover sport 3.0SDV6 HSE Dynamic which is one of the best cars I have ever owned. It is serviced every year at a LR specialist and the most I do in my car is 4000 miles so every year it has new oil in well under the recommended miles. It is still serviced as per the LR specifications and runs beautifully and I try not to do many short journeys so the engine warms up fully. I run it on premium fuel, it has the Pirelli all season verde tyres fitted, I have just replaced all the discs and pads replaced and the garage replaced both belts before I bought it. Great car I highly recommend JLRR Sport not too big a great vehicle for towing my big heavy caravan with its 3.5 ton towing weight. Don't be scared of these vehicles do your home work get a good one look after it and you will be pleasantly surprised at how nice these cars are and very reliable.

This is defenatly an american aimed video, as there is not a single diesel engine on the list. Having owned a 2007 disco 3 2.7 diesel i can honestly say that its one of the best offroaders out there , thst it is when its not being repaired in any given workshoo. In fact mine was also very good on fuel. It only had me paying for its fuel when i drove away from home,on the way back it usualy drove on the tow trucks fuel. Despute so i fell in love with the brand and after selling it , gainig some cash and curage,i now drive a 2011 4.4 diesel l322 which should be high on this list. Its an amazing machine which has proven to be very reliable, yet not bulletproof, but nothing comes close to it either on or off road.

I have a 2016 LR4 Lux and a 2018 Range Rover L405.. the disco has had its coolant pipes changed, about to pre-empt the pipes in the L405 which has 68k miles on it..

I had a diesel p38 few years back, had car over 2 years, it never let me down and flew through both mot eith me with no advisories, i now have a 3.0td l322 2003 vogue it's had a few very minor issues due to previous owners not knowing how to sort it properly and dodging it but I would whole heartedly jump in it and trust it to go anywhere
