  AS AN OLD SEA DOG WHO SURVEYED AND DELIVERED THIS WAS A GREAT INITIAL REPORT FOR A BUYER TO GO THROUGH BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE IS DONE. GREAT JOB GUYS. SMELL OF THE BOAT IS ANOTHER CRITICAL POINT. STATE OF THE LOCKERS AND RIGGING IS ANOTHER.  OVER 10 YRS OLD AND INSURANCE MAY BE A CONCERN.  IF THRU HULL VALVES DON'T WORK YOU'VE GOT PROBLEMS.  CHECK SUPPLY LINE TO GIMBLED STOVE AND SHUTOFF. ANCHOR LOCKER AND WINDLESS UNDER LOAD. SPRAY OR HOSE DOWN DECK FOR LEAKS. JUST A FEW MORE ISSUES TO LOOK FOR. CHECK CONDITION OF THE SAILS. GOOD HUNTING FOLKS.

  I have a low cost Chinese moisture meter.  Not sure what it measures but man, does it ever impress owners about my seriousness!

Not sure how I wound up in this video, but I will say that the moisture meter and hammer are both tools that work well to find core moisture intrusion and delamination - as long as you know how to use and understand their limitations. And for the love of god - don’t use the big steel hammers shown

  All correct BUT try to find a used vessel in the shape you think is a &quot;keeper&quot;.<br>All old boat are &quot;modified&quot; and &quot;refitet&quot; by countless pre-owners which most likely didn&apos;t have a clue what they are doing. Most boat buyers don&apos;t even know how to sail nor &nbsp;how to repair that damn thang.<br>The so nicely represented &quot;refit&quot; videos on YouTube say it all. They don&apos;t know how to peel a banana but &quot;refiting&quot; their 5 ton yacht 😂😂😂 with a pair of gloves and a pocket knife from Home Depot.<br>Old used boats always a construction zone sold to the next idiot who thought he can fix everything better and for cheap.<br>The key is to find a used vessel with the less possible 💩 going on. <br>If you go your way, you rather buy a new boat and deal with the well needed &quot;repairs&quot; under warranty.<br><br>Just me and my two and a half cent.<br>Fair Winds y&apos;all ⛵👍🙏

  If you want a brand new perfect boat you can go buy one, never saw a perfect used boat. The price usually reflects that new perfect boats are very expensive
