  My grandfather Oscar L Edge was with the 100th at Thorpe's Abbott.  He was with the kincannon crew. He was shot down and a pow in the battle of Mersburg Germany. He flew in the Bell of Berlin  he did some time early on in the Royal Flush and the Shinning Hour. My grandpa was a radio gunner.

  As a kid many yrs back, I had a fine book called "Flying Fortress" that featured stories about Harry, Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal, and others of the 100th as well as a very in depth look at the B-17.  Very special now to hear them so many yrs later.

  My father was a navigator in the 100th BG [H' and I had the pleasure of knowing Harry personally, even before he wrote ON A WING AN D A PRAYER and gained fame thought "MASTERS OF THE AIR." Truly, one of "Our Greastest Generation." In the small world department, this video was filed in my  college town, in the visinity of a small aviation museum open at the time, and the "Tired Tractor Museum" and the "Boyd--Parker Monument.:" They used to fly demon flights with thre "resident" B-17 over the Genesee Valley, and drop water melons as faux bombs, much to the horror of some of the local peacniks who made up "Genesee Valley Citizens for Peace." Oh-Ha-Dai," Seneca for "O, Beautiful Valley!"

  One word: tripod.  Interesting fellow and perspective.  He was likely a real pistol in his early years!  Very honest guy...

  Geez, the crew made leafy a pow because they didn’t want him on the crew?! That’s messed up. (Last two or three minutes if you’re wondering what I’m talking about.)

  Holy hell what a nightmare this guy must have been to fly with. From constant puking to dripping with sweat, there's no way in hell I could have lived with this dude as a crew mate.
