This is, without a doubt, the most in depth deep dive into the weeds on the early portion of this battle i've ever seen.I can't tell you how much I appreciate it because it's really plugging a lot of holes in the knowledge that I already had. A word about starvation and malnutrition. I grew up in the coal towns of west virginia, and my dad was a miner and I was pulled out of school in the eighth grade to go work the mines. There were 6 of us kids 2 boys 4 girls
And it was me and my brother in the mines. 12/14 hour days.
Barely enough to eat on a good day. What you said about malnutrition and starvation, lowering a person's morale, is hitting it right on the head and that bit about malnutrition opening the door for all kinds of illnesses. That to. The only thing I learned during those years was there was no way in hell I was going to end up like my dad, with his black lung,
and living in such abject poverty. I ran away from home at 16. And went up north and lived with friends family, and it was like a light switch went on for me. I could see the possibilities before me. And with the help of this wonderful family that was so supportive I finished school, went to college,
and became a veterinarian. The moral of my story is anything is possible as long as you keep your head up, put one foot in front of the other and don't let life, poverty, or lack of food define you. Because then you'll have given up.

The two of you interacting so naturally is really soothing. It's nice to see the smiles and hear the laughs you show every now and then. I don't quite understand the content of the conversation yet, but your light and lively talk, full of warmth, is really relaxing.
