Hi Seth and Jon!

As a Filipino, these series of episodes is something that’s near and dear to my heart. Thank you for tackling this.

We run a tour company here and we had the pleasure of handling the return of the Battling Bastards of Bataan in the early 2000s and the stories were all fascinating and amazing. Great to watch their stories through the podcast. Looking forward to the subsequent episodes.

My dad was part of Wainwright's troops during the retreat. He survived the eventual surrender and Death March. After Dad passed in 2006, I discovered among his personal effects a BW photo of a platoon of young cadets in uniform taken before Dec 1941. In the photo is someone holding an ROTC flag.... Your video just explained its relevance.

Thanks again Seth and Jon for your hard work and efforts to bring forth even the unpleasant Allied memories of WW2 in the Pacific. It's been an effort to make myself watch these episodes on the loss of the Philippines (along with Singapore). But as an adult, I realize it's both important and necessary. Thanks again to you both. PS: Great maps, Jon!

I've been an admirer of your podcast for awhile. I'm of the boomer generation and greatly appreciate the honesty of your presentation. Made dad fought in Europe and rarely talked about it. We watched Victory at Sea and the other programs dedicated to their victory, but so many things were either ignored or barely mentioned. Those programs basically said we were the good guys and ignored the true cost that was paid on both sides and to all the civilians who got in the way. And in doing so did a great disservice to history. Two comments to Jon, Ive just bought your book and I put a small pillow on my lap when I'm reading it .I'm only through December 1941 so far and I'm very impressed Also we must share a similar hair stylist

Jon, I'm working my way through "1942", not because it's a hard read, but because you put in SO MUCH information that I need to digest a chapter before moving along!

Thanks for a great episode! It amazes me how well the allied forces fought knowing that the end had already been predicted with no rescue except for the highest ranks.
