In that part of China, when the weather goes below 0c in the winter, they put anti freeze into the concrete so it will set off. <br>Come summertime and higher temperatures, the concrete actually goes off properly.<br>The result is cracked concrete which has dramatically way less strength than it should have.<br>Add that to very weak rebar, concrete that is very suspect and you have a recipe for disaster.

In the US, rebar embedded in concrete that is exposed to exterior conditions for more than a 21 day cycle, by design must be exterior grade steel and Epoxy coated. In all my years only a few crews recoated bent, heated or cut ends of green bar... Once they know though, they don't forget. That's where the first failures happen on a microscopic level...

I served in the NAVY, Seabees. Builder rate. At <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=575cnMHT8jY&t=282">4:42</a> time. Concrete pouring o. I s pure SLOP. NO gravel, sand isn’t going to last long.

All those numbers don't mean a damn thing if the tower is unfinished and completely vacant. They might as well just put up a 2000 ft flagpole.

The REAL expense is going to be the maintenance of the tower, if it’s ever finished, and from what I’ve read the Chinese aren’t really big on maintenance!!

How do you remove such a massive structure? Assuming it needs to come down. Who pays. And has it been done before?

The assumption is that any structural testing was actually performed before construction was resumed. The last question posed: would I open offices in such a building where construction stalled for a decade and then resumed? In Denmark or Frankfurt, sure. In Taiwan, or Dubai, why not? In New York, maybe. In Las Vegas, probably. ANYWHERE in China... That would DECIDEDLY, be a NOPE.
