  Early in this interview, Jacob says he doesn't know why the show has become so huge. It's him! He hired the PERFECT actors, wrote the PERFECT script, directed so well and in a way that you want to watch over and over. You, Jacob.  You're the reason this is a cultural phenomenon. Thanks! We needed it.

  I don't know if it translates generationally but like... as a gay guy who played both HS and college hockey... there was kind of an exclusionary culture in both... like you couldn't play hockey and be gay, and you couldn't be gay and play hockey. Then like, in NYC, there's a gay hockey league and it kinda felt like, I could be all of myself at the same time. It feels like, so weird to see people who are like me on TV because it never really felt like there were enough people like me out there that I'd see something like that. Seems kinda niche, but also, it has been super nice to see some of the people I like in hockey world reacting to it so positively.

  It is so refreshing to watch two hockey dude bros talk about a smutty gay show with this level of enthusiasm. So many straight guys feel so uncomfortable anytime they witness any type of physical affection between other men and it's so cool to see you talking about this show without the subtle eye rolls that many guys feel they need to include just so no one dares question their masculinity. It actually makes me hopeful that change can happen

  jacob tierney the man that you are... getting asked about s*an avery and just saying &quot;no.&quot; <br><br>for some reason it&apos;s not common knowledge that in addition to all the garden-variety misogynist gross stuff he&apos;s done over the years, his ex-wife was granted a restraining order against him because of alleged abuse toward her and their young son. <br><br>anyway jacob called it, avery is just an opportunist who put out a hockey romance because hockey romance is wildly popular, and who is talking about heated rivalry for the same reason.
