This is my father-in-law! Very proud of Ernie. Last summer I sat with him and he shared his old photo book of pictures from his time in the service. This episode brought me back! Great job pops!

My uncle Warren Craig Whitlock was a Huey pilot in Vietnam. Shot down 9x. Finished his career at Fort Rucker Alabama training Huey pilots.

what a genuine guy. So many great people were thrown into that, including my brother. Thank God he made it back, but really didn't want to talk about it.

My high school friend's brother was a helo pilot...he told me he got to the point that he didn't bother learning the names of his door gunners because they never seemed to last too long...that was scary and I'm glad I was too young to get drafted...

Opening up and telling your stories, experiences and memories; you also have to remember it's a different "time" and America came to realize how "wrong" the Protests were. T/U for your Sacrifice and Service. Welcome Home. Salute. CPO, USN, RET, 69-94

The majority of army helicopters that were brought back for recycling, were brought into Texas. I saw some once, while in elementary school. Horrified that they'd once held injured soldiers, I decided that, if I ever needed to fight, I'd want to be a door gunner. Welcome home, Vets!

Thank you for your service, Ernest. Your candor is next level, and your ability to tell stories and take life in stride is equally impressive. You are a man amongst men!

My grandfather did several tours in Vietnam in the navy but he never talked about what he did cause he wasn’t allowed but when he took his shirt off he had been shot 9 times and stab several times over the tours he did. Those bullet wounds looked wild they was all in his torso but a couple was in his left arm. I always wondered what he did there.

I love hearing these story’s reminds me of my time with my grandfather even though he was a rough man he did over 20 years in navy
