  I just love listening to Dr. Shedler - he puts such complex psychoanalytic concepts so simply, but still without losing the depth of it!

  As a person with depression and anxiety, I have found the assistance of my counselors invaluable. Now, as a social worker who is working on obtaining clinical experience myself, I find this talk to be helpful, realistic, and affirming. Thank you so much for this podcast.

  I appreciate Dr. Shedler talking about the drive and logic behind behaviours rather than how the resulting behaviour manifests.<br><br>I do however disagree with his aversion to labelling something a disorder. An objective observer is well positioned to identify when certain personality profiles become disruptive to a patients wellbeing and participation in society. It is Irrespective of whether the level of disruption is subjective and on a spectrum, as a clinician you should be able to determine that line in the sand.

  Thank you for helping to raise awareness of OCPD. I found these books by OCPD specialists very helpful: Too Perfect (1992) by Allan Mallinger, and The Healthy Compulsive (2020) by Gary Trosclair. Trosclair’s first book is also excellent, I’m Working On It In Therapy (2015). The OCPD subreddit has a lot of excellent resources.

  Could you make a video with Dr. Schedler on Borderline Personality ? I would be very interested to know his point of view as a psychodynamic psychologist 🙂
