  Williams did not lose the '49 MVP award to Jackie Robinson. Robinson played in the National League while Williams played in the American. In fact, Williams DID win the AL MVP in '49.

  1970 or so I met Ted Wms & spoke to him about hitting ( he was mgr of the Washington Senators)

  You combined 49 &amp; 50 seasons into 1 he won AL MVP in 49. Injured in all star game in 50.<br>It was in Chicago

  The year he hit .406 there was no Sac fly rule. That rule did not come in to effect until 1954. Basically every Sac fly Ted hit that year counted against its batting average and he still managed to hit over 400. If you were to adjust it he would have hit closer to .412. Even if somebody did it today it wouldn&apos;t be as impressive

  Saying no one comes close to his hitting ability is just flat out false. Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, babe Ruth. Come on man. I love Ted, but that’s an untrue statement.

  Fans can be unappreciative and brutal. &nbsp;Most do not understand the intricacies of baseball. &nbsp;Probably half the crowd in any one game aren&apos;t paying attention because they are consumed with eating, drinking and fooling around with their iphones. &nbsp;The only other player, I can compare to Mr. Williams is Barry Bonds. &nbsp;He too had a dysfunctional alcoholic father. &nbsp;He too was difficult to get along with. &nbsp;He too had an amazing eye and was a pure hitter. &nbsp;If not for Bonds connection with PED&apos;s, I believe he would carry the honor of being called the &quot;Greatest Hitter of All Time.&quot; &nbsp;Steroids can&apos;t help you with hand to eye coordination. &nbsp;Steroids can&apos;t give you the perfect swing. &nbsp;When it comes to Williams, those who lost out were the Boston fans who did not appreciate one of the greatest players of all time. &nbsp;For years, Boston suffered under the &quot;Curse of the Bambino&quot; when in fact, it was &quot;The Curse of Unappreciative Fans.&quot; &nbsp;When the fans are a-holes, who wants to play for them?

  Well, regardless of how good a fisherman Williams was, he could command big fees as a guide just from being a famous baseball player. All the fat cats would want to fish with Ted even if they didn&apos;t catch anything.
