My husband and I recently found your videos. They inspire us and make us yearn to be back in our twenties and thirties again. While my hubby has seen a xouple of things he would have suggested to Chris, we've learned much more from watching y'all. Who said you couldn't teach an old dog a new trick?
Keep up the good work. And please keep sharing your journey. We enjoy your videos enough that we'll re-watch them.

hi there.
i got 2 suggestions to your smoker.
you could install a window on the side off the smoker then install a Exterior wooden window shutters to make it dark inside.
in this way then you can look at how the meat are whit out needing to open the door and let the smoke out.
and the second is that you could build something that looks like a pallet underneath so you can pick up the smoker whit the skid steer and move it around if you need it.

hope my suggestion is a good one, have a great day! :)

This was a fascinating watch. I’ve never been much of a construction nerd, but watching you mill the trees last week into boards, and then this week watching you use those boards to build the smoker was almost magical. It reminded me of the feeling I got many years ago the first time I took the simple ingredients of flour, water, yeast and salt, and with some time and effort, I ended up with BREAD!! That was the beginning of my love affair with bread baking. I doubt at this stage of my life I’ll begin building things, but I was fascinated by getting the same feeling from your project.

Cold air in from bottom, hot air/smoke out from the top. You may want a few 1” holes at the bottom of the doors covered by fine mesh to keep critters out. 😊
