Happy Friday, everybody,

I'm excited to see the discussion on this one. As much as it seems like this is a dig at the M7, the Marines mostly just don't want to have to rewrite their doctrine and rewire their logistics networks. EDIT: There are some shots of the M4 where they should be the M27. Lots of footage was mislabeled; we swapped a lot out, but I made the decision to just get it live. So if you're gonna yell at someone about that, its me. Just squint and you can't tell the difference.

Next week, we are talking about South Korea's defense industry and its incredible growth. Then we got into the issues with USS Gerald R Ford because now the toilets don't work...it's bad.

My email is at the end. I hope you'll use it if you need it. Thanks for hanging out with us. Hope you all have a great weekend.

-Kyle

TRANSLATION: 5.56 is lighter, we have billions of rounds, and all our allies use it.

Probably the entirety of Army infantry would prefer the M27 over the Spear

Army Infantry in the 25h ID here, I was issued the M7 last week. Shot it this past week and qualified on it. Nobody in my company likes it, Fully loaded 210 rounds, with a 157 optic, suppressor, PAS (thermal) is around 25 pounds. There are way too many moving parts inside, and theres a weird O ring in the bolt that is too big and doesnt fit back in, its also extremely dirty. Besides the obvious logistical issues, I do not want to carry this through the jungle during an FTX, or to war. Maybe one per squad as a DMR would be alright

Well us Marines can be accused of being dumb, but we know weapons and logistics. Changing rifle calibers for basically no reason as war looms is a dumb idea.

The Chad heavy barrel automatic rifle VS. The virgin high pressure experimental battle rifle.

So you’re saying the marines are… sticking to their guns??? I’ll show myself out.

That army uniform change joke cut deep.

Dude, the M27 fits the army better too, especially for airborne infantry.. this M7 situation is foolish. Guys that have been at a desk the past 10 years trying to fight what they imagine all Afghanistan to have been.

One of the unique requirements is having 212 rounds of 5.56 vs 100 rounds of 6.8 for the same weight penalty.

    Brit here.
Maybe The Marines have long memories about sustainability since I heard from my artillery man Dad 🇬🇧 that they were stuck on some Pacific Island for days with no supplies and a lot of very scratchy Japanese try to get them to go home.
Having plenty of what you need really matters.

Two rifles, two ammo types, two supply chains … sounds very inefficient.
