  My grandfather as apart of D day. &nbsp;We were watching a history channel doc about Dday. &nbsp;They talked about the Texas and he told me this. &nbsp;&quot;We were pushing forward. &nbsp;They had some bunkers that were laying down heavy fire. &nbsp;So we radioed for an aircraft bombing run. &nbsp;Suddenly we get &apos;this is USS Texas, we are in range please designate coords&apos;. &nbsp; We all sat there for a min then our CO dropped the coords. &nbsp;He gets &apos;copy, rounds incoming&apos;. &nbsp; Next thing we know, there&apos;s artillery rounds destroying the bunkers. &nbsp;We all just sat there staring and wondering &apos;HOW?!&apos;. &nbsp;Of course we find out later what the Texas had done. &nbsp;We all promised plenty of beers for that crew&quot;

  I know this video is a year old, but Texas is now in drydock, getting much needed repairs so she can remain a monument to the Men that sailed her. Please support her.

  Don&apos;t forget, the USS Texas also engaged beach snipers who were harassing the army. &nbsp;Can you imagine being counter sniped with a 14-in naval rifle? &nbsp;Sounds about Texan to me...<br><br>Or when they were hit with a 8-in shell that did not go off, they diffused it and made it a LUCKY CHARM.

  USS Texas: an example of what happens when you put marines onto a Navy ship, cast frenzy on the crew, and have a captain so hardcore he&apos;ll literally flood his ship if it means dropping the freedom-works on target.<br>Admiral: May I ask what...&apos;inspired&apos; you to perform such a feat? <br>Captain: The enemy was still breathing. I wanted to remedy that.
