There's a joke about how the Navy and Army are Branches of the Military, the Air Force is a business, and the Marine Corps is a cult

The whole “break you down to build you back up” mindset is just called conforming, your trained to fall into line and doing what your told, even if what your told is completely inhumane

I did 20 years in the Navy. Bootcamp and all other humiliation rituals only work on stupid people, and unfortunately there are a shit ton of stupid people in the military. The whole process is actually pretty funny when you realize you're gonna pass no matter what.

10 year USMC vet here 🙋🏾‍♂️. Bootcamp is not as hard as you're made to believe. Being screamed at, learning to become a team and adapting to a 24/7 state of anxiety of course takes some adjustment but I promise you ANYONE can do it.

The shitty quality of character of some of the Marines through my short career can attest to that

As a marine what I can say that most of us agree with is that it s cult . The highs are very fun however the lows get depressingly low . The only way most of us get through is by trauma bonding.
Most of us are depressed.

In theory, the military is great. It's a necessity to protect your country. Your country loves you and you love your country. But our government doesn't love us so...
