I like making covers out of cereal boxes or other food packaging; they are strikingly vibrant and sturdy.

I have made my own for years. I put one coat of glossy mode podge to keep the cover from tearing.

Fairly new here. I really like the note book you and your son made. I'm oldest enough to remember Wards. It's amazing what one can journal with.

I make mine myself, too. I use 190g paper and a color laser printer with a single-sheet feed for the cover. Then I sew the notebooks together using a leather sewing machine—because a three-pack of original Field Notes costs 30 to 40 euros here in Germany.

Those are awesome! I would buy them for sure. I love the old Montgomery catalog covers and they are one of a kind for sure. You should do some with your art work as well.

These look great! We also started making our own. We found some cream colored paper from hammermill and it's working well. Haven't tried fountain pens with it though. Our covers are pretty basic, either some colored cardstock or we have some old scrapbooking cardstock laying around that has patterns on it that we are using. I still love me some Field Notes, but I also enjoy the process of making my own. And you said it, just playing and messing around, which is great for the mind and body.
