Thanks, interesting test. One of the few camera scanning videos that actually talks about dust and the fact that flatbed scanners do batch scans and allow you to do something else while the scanner works.

I changed from Adobe to Affinity Photo, and after some getting used to I couldn’t be much happier. Great video by the way!

Fantastic video.  Thank you for the great detail you have taken to explain the pros/cons of each workflow.  You made up my mind for me.  I will save up to purchase the V850.  👍🏻

Good comparison and some valid points. I use camera scanning as I don`t want to buy an Epson 850, sooner buy a new camera. But that is me. Alternatives to Adobe (I also hate subscription software) would be On1 Photo RAW and/or DXO Photolab (though currently Photolab doesn`t have Fuji support). I use Olympus E-M5 MkII and use high res mode for scanning, I know big files but good results and can always resize but as you point out takes a lot of space on the hard drive. If you want smaller kit consider the E-M5 MkIII or the E-M1 MkII or III if you want a pro camera. The XT4 is a great camera though I know two people with them and they get good results, though I wouldn`t say better or significantly better than my E-M5 MkII as we have compared. All digital cameras give great results now anyway. I too love using film cameras so this video was really useful. Thank you again.

Bravo. Your honesty and hard work are deeply appreciated. I have several decades of film and slides to scan and honestly thought switching to DSLR scans would be faster than my epson v700 and much older Coolscan. Now, I'm not so sure it's worth the extra investment. Again, TY!

I never have a problem with dust at my camera scanning, I blow the dust away a second before I scan the negatives. I also have no problems to scan a negative with 4 shots and put that together in Lightroom, it works very well. The time is a plus for the scanner. To work with a camera needs a lot of concentration and time
