Two things in this video go against what you will read almost everywhere else, so here they are in
writing.

The first: Blood Alley. That twenty-eight mile stretch of Route 21 earned its name honestly, on a
narrow two-lane road with blind entrances carrying far more traffic than it was built for. But the
state rebuilt it. The corridor was rerouted to freeway standard from Route 141 down to Highway B, and
the final twenty-five million dollar section opened on the 15th of December 2008. When somebody tells
you today that Blood Alley is the deadliest road in Missouri, they are describing a road that was
replaced.

The second: Highway 7. The fatal crash cluster that gets quoted for Highway 7 is around Bismarck, in
the south of Arkansas. That is the Ouachitas, a different mountain range. Using those deaths to
describe the Ozark stretch is simply wrong, and I would rather say so than borrow the number.

And the figure I want you to keep: in 2015, flooding killed twenty-seven people in Missouri, and
twenty-three of them were in a vehicle. Six inches of moving water takes your control. Two feet floats
your truck. Turn around.

If you live out here and I got something wrong, say so below. I read all of it.
