  Recently retired trucker. Even with the internet I always kept an old school Rand McNally truck map book in the truck. You thinking of going off the Interstate to roads you don't know just check that book. It tells you of restricted routes for a reason.

  I&apos;ve lived in Colorado over 80 years and been over Independence many times! &nbsp;Haven&apos;t been over it since well before Glenwood <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RyJuozSi2U&amp;t=2">0:02</a> &nbsp;Canyon was &quot; ruined&quot; (IMO), so seeing Independence Pass with lines of cars is anathema to me! &nbsp;OMG. &nbsp;There was one time, I believe in the &apos;70&apos;s, when I was traveling back from Aspen over Independence and ended up behind an 18 wheeler. &nbsp;In those days, there was NO excuse for that and plenty of signs prohibiting them! &nbsp;That was long before GPS was (unfortunately) invented. &nbsp;My memory cannot recall exactly how, but I somehow managed, along with a few other cars, to get around him before the east side. &nbsp;How he made it across (or not?), I will never know. &nbsp;I was never on the pass when there was any yellow line nor any of the walls that were added and no gates to close the road. &nbsp;There was never much traffic at all. &nbsp;I cannot imagine even an RV of any size making it down the east side of the pass, let alone a semi! &nbsp;Leave Independence Pass to those of us who truly understand what Colorado mountain passes are all about! &nbsp;Thanks for this video. &nbsp;I enjoyed hearing about the people of Independence making skis out of their homes to ski down to Aspen! &nbsp;I never knew that.

  Love your videos. Just drove 82 last month from Aspen through Independence Pass. It&apos;s one of the most beautiful drives ever. I was right at the limit with my SUV and small travel trailer. Having already driven the million dollar highway it still blew my mind how beautiful and how narrow it got. A few sections are truly sketchy where the road narrows and you take turns going while hoping nobody else is coming. Colorado is so bad ass.

  There’s an easy solution, make blockades at the entrances in aspen and twin lakes so only vehicles that are under the length can navigate through the blockade. It’s called a modal filter but bigger that only allows cars and small trucks. Make a turn around for the semis. This solves the problem.

  They should place a make shift overhead &nbsp;out of tubes to limit the height. <br>In August of 2020 we drove &nbsp;my son to college. On way back we had to take the pass because of the fire in the early hours of it.<br><br>We were behind a truck and we just kept shaking our head watching the truck slowly try to get through. <br><br>Keept telling our self it&apos;s gona get stuck or roll.<br><br>Thank fully it made it.

  Never drove it in my Semi ...<br>But &nbsp;DID &nbsp;drive it in my little &nbsp;FIAT.

  The simple solution to end this stupidity is to put in a toll booth on both sides.

  I ran the pass several times and never had any problems, this was in the 80s .

  Semis need to stay off the pass for sure, however many of the photos are not from Independance Pass.

  I hardly basically never go through I-70 West of Denver to begin with but I still made a note of Colorado 82 🤯🚛

  I have driven this road in a rental car numerous times in Summer. Similar to the Million Dollar Highway. The $1500 fine is seen as just the cost of doing business for truckers. Arrest and mandatory jail time for violators should put the Kabash on this.

  I had the chance to drive this road in my wife&apos;s car and I am telling you don&apos;t even think about getting a truck and trailer through it
