On Friday, I spoke to my male administrator about an ADHD student (I have at least 5 ADHD) in that period, one who threw chairs TWICE this school year (it’s been 3 weeks) at his English teacher! 😮 He’s the smallest person in the room. A colleague comes to me to tell me that the same administrator I was speaking to had been choked and physically assaulted by a student minutes earlier 😮😢! This same student also has an IEP, so this student may be able to return 🫠🫥😑. I had to walk past the sherif and 3 district office personnel just to get to him. This admin is new to our school and is very responsive-I had to send 2 students to the office from period 8 on Monday because several students talk to the point of disruption. I have sent 3-4 emails stating that teaching and learning will not take place this year if this is allowed to continue, and asked for specific students to be separated (some of it has happened, but my main two students are still in the same class). One period 8 student entered disrupted my period 4 class, and the other kids were calling him crazy). Many of the teachers at my school are not using chromebooks until it is needed, because we see how damaging it is to the development, and some just play games the minute you walk past them, and no one wants the headache. Yup, it’s challenging. School staff have the right to be safe at work, and when you are assaulted, that destroys your ability to be your best. I really pray that that student gets charges filed and is facing the consequences, so that the rest of the student body doesn’t get any fresh ideas.

It's not even just the kids.  It's the entire system.  It's insane.  The curriculum doesn't make sense.  The tech doesn't work.  I can't even make copies for my students.  This is the craziest job I've ever had.

I have been saying this for years!!! When you take discipline out of the classroom you take away the teacher's ability to control the class and you take away the student's motivation to learn. Children are not going to behave because you say pretty please!!! So the students start out being disruptive and disrectful in the lower grades and meet no consequences for their behavior. Then they move on to the higher grades where they are not small children any more and teachers have even less control. It is all a disaster waiting to happen.<br>There was a time when this country was one of the highest educated countries in the world. We definitely fell off that hill!! It is really sad and it is going to end badly!!

These children are going to be in for a rude awakening when they enter the real world. It shocks me that there are seniors in high school that can’t even read.
