  So painful and frustrating. As a foreign doctor in Germany, while doing FSP training all hospitals and Praxis rejected applications for observership which is very helpful in recruitment of qualified doctors. Why complain of shortages?

  This has always been a problem in Germany. Even since I was a child. They don't have enough qualified staff so they need immigrants to fill those essential jobs and then they complain about the numbers of immigrants... So stupid.

  Once you get the training you go part time. Aiming for zero error rate 24/7 is stressful, so is racism which we all face! That’s why we eventually leave.

  Obviously yes, every country does. There is severe talent shortage worldwide, if you don’t fill the gaps with foreign labour, you will just end up with a non-functioning economy.

  Hospitals are struggling with staff shortages because nobody wants to work these jobs when they're paid NOTHING. Germany is notorious for unbelievably low salaries that increase only minimally even after 5-10 years working in a job. The upper management, c-suite, and CEOs / owners all make millions, while they pay their employees absolutely nothing. This is what they should be focusing on if they want german workers to go into these careers. Nobody wants to live poor because their career pays them nothing.

  We have actually a lot of medical students  but mostly of them are leaving the country after the country paid around 250K euros for their degree

  As a doctor that has worked in the German healthcare system, I have to say that the system is highly inefficient. Enormous bureaucracy (paper and fax machines) and terrible delegation of tasks. I found myself drawing blood, starting IVs and giving blood transfusions, which is performed by nurses elsewhere in the world. You lose a lot of physician hours to these tasks which necessitates more physician personnel.<br><br>There is also no proper triage, sometimes people go to the ER for anything at any hour. E.g. wasp stings without an allergic reaction, stomach pain after eating something spicy... The healthcare system needs a total reform to allocate sparse personnel properly. Unfortunately the German government is allergic to actual innovation and the only thing they can offer are reckless budget cuts.
