  Why would any civilization take thus much time, this much effort to build something you were going to treat casually?? And, why do we, collectively,  believe that people in the past weren't as smart as we are now??

  Here again we have the claim, as in Gobelki Tepe, that this area has no graves, and was only inhabited for occasional big gatherings, was not a permanent settlement. But that has been disproved at Gobelki Tepe when more of the area was examined. Is that also true here? These assertions that this is only a ceremonial center and not a permanent settlement - are premature. Come back in 20 years and find out what this is all really about. If you want to indulge your imagination - go ahead - nothing wrong with that. But if you want actual facts, listen skeptically ..... and wait.

  Grew up hunting around this land and duck hunting Watson Brake. I still live in the area, but now hunt maybe a mile or two away from the brake. Just started the video but this is awesome.

  I’m from the delta in Arkansas. We have several “Indian mounds” Iimagine when the Mississippi would flood and everything was under water could the mounds been used as waypoints or even camping 🤷🏼‍♂️

  I prefer that ideas both outside the mainstream and within accepted mainstream views be considered and reconsidered constantly.  I like the concept of compairing mythologies, cultures, artifacts and so on including never relying on hidden assumptions (often hidden as accepted theory treated as fact), relying on the latest scientific measurement technologies while questioning all theories, assumptions and re-examining old ideas previously eliminated by older  possibly outmoded thinking.  Questioning everything is where science began.

  Part of me feels like this was one of the lower class civilizations/landmarks of that time, and we’re sitting here astonished by it.
