We bought one Hurricane Ram 1500 and loved it so much bought 3 more. Drivers absolutely love how smooth and powerful they are. They say to a man smoothest engine they ever seen in a truck.

Rented a Wagoneer last week with that motor. Smooth. Great pick up and go.

My I6 in a trailblazer lasted me over 20 years. Smooth as silk. Rusted away underneath but engine was stout

Jason FYI the straight-6 engines are usually under-square for packaging purposes vs a V6 which is oversquare, again for packaging purposes. That's where the torque discrepancy comes from, not the layout of the cylinders. If you made an oversquare I6 (which I am not sure why you would) it would also make more HP then torque.

I sell equipment to US Automakers and have been in many plants, both final assembly and powertrain. Regarding the Mexico assembly on powertrain components, i.e. engines and transmissions, that aspect of the vehicle manufacturing has so few manual operations as most everything is highly automated and very tightly controlled from a data monitoring and quality control standpoint. The number of engineers and product people going back and forth from Auburn Hills, MI to Saltillo to monitor, supervise and assist the machining and assembling operations is considerable. It really doesn't matter where that engine is built from a quality standpoint. It's a definite buy and is the most refined, powerful, and high-tech light duty truck engine available from any brand.

Wish it had a single turbo for starters, that it had a more streamlined space in the engine compartment and that the transmission pan was not plastic . Oh and a real dipstick not a dash item.

Back in days when dealers turned odometers back many a car from the fifties and sixties made it 300,000 miles unbeknown to the public. 345,000 miles on my 07 ram 1500 5.7 3.92 gears.

The straight six is such a well balanced engine. The Ford 300 and the BMW S58 are great straight sixes. The issue now is the quality of the parts and the life of the turbo. I could wish it had a compacted graphite iron block, but it seems like a good engine. I drove a Ram 1500 with one and it was very smooth and very strong. It was as nice to drive as a GM 6.2.

Got one last week it rides so smooth sometimes I wonder if it’s even running lol . Had check engine light come on about 200 miles , was triggered by dealership overfilling the tank been off since I got empty .. Was giving the purge valve code or gas tank lol

My 78 year old mother has been driving a BMW X3 with a single Turbo 3L straight six since 2016. Has well of 100K on it and has just been an awesome motor. No dipstick either though which drives my dad nuts (changes his own oil). There is something to be said for the smoothness of a straight six. One of the best balanced designs in terms of rotating mass.
